Engine Longevity: Protection against mechanical wear
Rubia products are developed with special molecules forming a strong film over metal surfaces, reducing mechanical wear in the presence of high pressure and extreme temperatures, improving engine longevity.

Smoother and efficient engines: Better engine cleanliness
Rubia’s advanced active molecules prevent formation of harmful deposits by keeping them dispersed. The products improve the longevity of the engine and make it run in a smoother and more efficient way.

Longer oil change intervals: Resistance against oxidation
Synthetic base oils with outstanding anti-oxidant additives increase Rubia products’ resistance to oxidation, even under extreme temperatures, thus extending oil drain intervals.

Lower Oil Consumption: Better wear protection and engine cleanliness
Rubia products with special anti-wear additives minimize the amount of engine oil entering the combustion chamber and, by that, reduce oil consumption.

Fuel economy properties: Excellent protection even with low viscosities
Engine oils can provide Fuel Economy gains via viscosity control and friction reduction. Lowering lubricant’s viscosity reduces the overall friction in the engine, delivering Fuel Economy benefits. Rubia FE range is approved by Heavy Vehicle Manufacturers for use in their engines to achieve their FE targets.

Equipment Longevity, reduced maintenance costs: Compatibility with exhaust gas after treatment systems
With their “low-SAPS” (low sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur) technology, Rubia products prevent the clogging of diesel particulate filters (DPFs) and protect diesel engines equipped with post-treatment systems, reducing maintenance costs and protecting the environment.

Rubia Optima
with Inno-Boost Technology
Ready for the next chapter of engine technology
Rubia products offer excellent engine and after treatment systems protection, with extended drain intervals, for the latest, cleaner engines.
Benefits of using Rubia Optima with Inno-Boost technology
- Increased uptime and lower maintenance costs
- Exceed API CK-4 and FA-4 specifications
- Longer engine oil life
- Excellent equipment longevity
Rubia Optima products, formulated with Inno-Boost Technology, incorporate right combination of strong anti-oxidant molecules. These active molecules inhibit the radical formation and keep hydrocarbon chains intact. As a result, the engine oil viscosity remains stable and engine oil keeps its properties for longer time.
Up to 76% improvement against oil viscosity increase compared to API CK-4 Industry Limits.*
* Volvo T13 Test (KV 40 Viscosity Increase 300-360h).

Rubia product range

Rubia Optima
with Inno-Boost Technology
is engineered and approved for the latest technology engines and offers excellent engine longevity with extended oil drain intervals.
API FA-4 Specification:
- Most advanced API Specification.
- Exceptional fuel economy benefits: Rubia Optima range with its API FA-4 products prove extra fuel economy properties thanks to Total’s innovative oil technology.
These products have lower High Temperature High Shear (HTHS) viscosity (between 2.9cP and 3.2cP) than conventional fuel economy products (at 3.5cP and above). Reducing HTHS from 3.5 to 3.0cP would bring an extra 0.5% of Fuel Economy compared to conventional Fuel Economy Products on average according to the leading Heavy Vehicle Manufacturers. - For newer engines with limited backward compatibility. Please follow manufacturer recommendations.

Engine oil technology developed for natural gas engines
In line with its development strategy in natural gas vehicle fuel sector, TotalEnergies has developed an entire range of engine oils satisfying the special requirements of natural gas engines: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Rubia Gas is the engine oil range specially developed for natural gas engines (CNG and LNG) widely used in transport: especially in buses, deliveries and waste collecting vehicles.
Rubia for gas applications
The most significant difference of natural gas engines is the higher temperatures in engine combustion chamber compared to diesel engines. These higher temperatures cause quicker oxidation of the engine oil, degrading its protective properties.
In order to overcome that challenge, to resist the oxidation further and to protect the engine better Rubia Gas range has excellent thermal stability, oxidation and nitroxidation resistance. Its optimized ash content delivers the performance required in new natural gas engine applications, avoiding spark plug fouling and deposit formation in the combustion chamber.
Rubia range for gas applications complies with exclusive Cummins approvals as well as with other dual diesel/gas norms.
In addition to its gas range, Rubia engine oil range includes a complete range of products approved by the major heavy vehicle manufacturers (Volvo, Scania, DAF, MAN and Iveco) for their natural gas engines.
Rubia Gas
Anti-Nitration Technology

Nitration or Nitroxidation is a degradation process resulting from the reaction of the oil with gaseous NOx created during combustion. Nitration control is a key challenge on natural gas engine oils, especially stoichiometric engines and much more prevalent than in diesel engines.
Rubia Gas with Anti-Nitration technology uses a combination of high-quality base oils and antioxydants in order to reduce nitrogen oxidation problems on CNG and LNG engines. Additionally, Rubia Gas high performance detergents help keep spark plugs clean and optimize engine durability.
